Most pools and therefore our lessons are in the outdoors – please do not forget to apply sunscreen prior to your lesson and wear sun protection for all lessons – this should be for every lesson on cloudy and sunny days as sun protection should always be used when swimming

We still hold lessons on a warm rainy day – we are getting wet in the pool anyway and we can still learn to swim in these conditions

If you feel you do not want to go ahead with lessons in these conditions – Please see our Cancellation Policy for a guide to any makeup in these circumstances

AT MOBILE MARLINS WE DO NOT SWIM IF IT IS LIGHTNING OR THUNDERSTORMS AS IT IS DANGEROUS TO BE IN THE WATER DURNING THESE CONDITIONS

PARENT GUIDELINES AND CODE OF CONDUCT

Safety and general Pool Quality before and during each lesson

As we rely on using your pool for lessons and the quality of lessons is relying on the quality of your pool, it is your responsibility to ensure that the following are checked at least 24 hours prior to class beginning and advising Mobile Marlins if your pool is not safe for your child’s lesson.
Checklist for Safety and Quality for lessons:

  • Your pool chemicals and water quality are correct within health regulations.

  • Heating is on and working effectively

  • You regularly complete the Royal Life Saving Home Pool Safety Check

  • Your pool is to display CPR signage as per the above pdf

  • Your home and pool comply with your local council regulations

  • Before each class your pool and fenced off area are checked for hazards

  • Before each lesson all pool cleaners are turned off and out of the pool

  • You must check for spiders and other animals which could be in the water or filters, also checking for potential hazards and obstacles for all children instructors and spectators.

  • Insurance requirements state you must have a first aid kit accessible near the pool.

If our instructors deem the pool unsuitable for a lesson in relation to any of the above, your class will be cancelled and no credit of makeup class will be offered

SUPERVISING RESPONSIBLE ADULT AND TIME MANAGEMENT

A parent or responsible adult over the age of 18 must supervise your child before, during and after the class

This supervising person is to remain at the home for the duration of the class and once the class  is over (at your class finish time) they must promptly handover your child from your instructor – you will be charged additional class time if you are not on time for handover at the end of the lesson

Parents/carers watching: we would prefer you to watch your child’s lesson. You will then be able see how your child’s skills grow each week and their progression

Please be aware that your child’s lesson starts at the time you have booked.

IMPORTANT: Please make sure that your child has all their equipment ready and they are fully dressed for their lesson so getting prepared does not take up their lesson time. Your child’s instructor will be booked for another lesson after yours so will only be at your pool for your allocated time slot.

General Safety around your pool area at all times (during the lesson)

No person is running within the pool area

Your pool needs to be 1.8m depth if your child is to learn diving. Diving will only be taught under direct supervision

Any child jumping into the pool is under direct instruction.

Mobile Marlins Instructors will use their own equipment unless you have your own unless you would prefer to purchase your own to be kept at your home for lessons. We will advise you what you need if this is the case

Please ensure all pets are away from the pool area before, during and after the lesson.

Please ensure that no other children are swimming in the pool during lessons. Our instructors are only responsible for the child who is having their lesson for the duration of the lesson.
